Our Mandate

The Dentonia Danforth Village Association (DDVA) exists to strengthen, connect, and advocate for our neighbourhood by fostering an engaged, inclusive, safe, and sustainable community where all residents feel welcomed, represented, and empowered.

The DDVA is committed to:

• Building a strong and connected community by creating opportunities for residents to meet, collaborate, support one another, and develop meaningful relationships across the neighbourhood.

• Ensuring inclusive representation and participation by amplifying the voices and interests of all community members, including homeowners, renters, newcomers, long-term residents, youth, seniors, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and people from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and demographic backgrounds.

• Promoting belonging, respect, and safety by encouraging respectful dialogue, mutual understanding, and initiatives that create a welcoming environment where everyone feels they belong.

• Celebrating the neighbourhood's history and evolving identity by recognizing the area's heritage while embracing its cultural diversity through community events, festivals, and shared celebrations.

• Strengthening connections across communities by fostering relationships among residents from different backgrounds and life experiences, including Banglatown residents, new Canadians, people in transition, and long-term community members.

• Supporting environmental stewardship and neighbourhood beautification through community clean-up efforts, ecological education, sustainable practices, and initiatives that preserve and enhance our parks, streets, and public spaces.

• Keeping residents informed and engaged through newsletters, social media, community gatherings, educational programs, volunteer opportunities, and activities throughout the neighbourhood, including Dentonia Park.

• Advocating for neighbourhood interests by representing community priorities and concerns in discussions with the local Business Improvement Area (BIA), City of Toronto representatives, community organizations, and other partners.

Through collaboration, transparency, and community participation, the DDVA seeks to cultivate a vibrant, resilient neighbourhood that honours its history, celebrates its diversity, and invests in its shared future.
