Designed by Jessica Hein and featuring artwork from the "We Are All Relatives" mural at the Dentonia Park Clubhouse, these "Please Do Not Litter" signs were distributed throughout the Dentonia Danforth Village neighbourhood in June 2025. By encouraging residents and businesses to help keep the area clean, the signs serve as a reminder that we all play a role in caring for our shared community spaces. For years, the residents of Dentonia Danforth Village have been impacted by persistent littering and poor waste management. After reaching out to the Ward 19 City Councillor and staff several times with no real action in sight, the community organization decided to take matters into its own hands!

On Sunday, April 19, 2026, neighbours gathered for a community clean-up. Together, they filled more than 30 garbage bags with litter and waste, setting an example of what a cleaner, healthier neighbourhood can look like.

In celebration of Earth Day, neighbours also set up an eco booth at the corner of Ghoroaa Danforth (2994 Danforth Avenue), where community members came together to share ideas and discuss solutions to ongoing waste and safety concerns in the area.

Kids from the Secord Elementary School Eco Club created drawings especially for the event.

Keeping Dentonia Danforth Village clean and safe matters—for all of us and for the next generation.

From a long-time resident:

"For over 45 years, our family has lived on this street. We've seen generations of families build their lives here. At no point have we seen the laneways in the condition they are today. Over the past two years, there has been a clear and alarming increase in waste, directly tied to intensified nearby commercial activity."
